WE WANT TO CLOSE THE CYCLE
In the last few years, we have already intensively worked on
recycled polyester. In 2022, we launched a recycling project to
collect worn textiles in Europe and return them to the textile cycle.
Together with partners and clubs, we collected discarded sportswear
for the first time. A thermomechanical process was applied to
create polyester granulate, which was used to produce new yarn and
consequently a new jersey in 2023.

Recycled polyester
Most of our textiles are made from polyester
as it‘s ideal for sporting activities
thanks to it‘s functional properties. In
order to make textile production even more
sustainable, we have been increasingly using
recycled polyester since 2020. In addition to
new teamlines, popular articles such as the
jersey Team or the shorts Manchester 2.0
are now made from recycled polyester.
Now we want to improve this cycle and are testing a new recycling
process. With the support of our retailers and partner clubs, we are
once again collecting textiles that will be chemically recycled.
The result will be the jersey LOOP, which combines important
product features with a transparent recycling process.
